Kinfolk is a homeschool co-op created to serve Black children by providing a learning environment where they can see themselves reflected in their education, celebrate their history and culture, and learn within a supportive community.

Families do not have to be Black to participate. We warmly welcome mixed-race families, transracial adoptive families, and parents or guardians of any race who are raising Black children and support Kinfolk's mission and values.

No. While Kinfolk meets in a church building, we are not affiliated with any church, denomination, or religion. We are a secular homeschool co-op that welcomes families of all faiths, beliefs, backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and abilities.

We ask that all families treat one another with kindness and respect so that every child feels safe, valued, and included.

We meet in Parkville, Maryland, every Monday from 10am-2pm.

Children in our younger age groups are not drop-off.

Older students may be eligible for our optional supervised drop-off program if they meet the program requirements.

There are many meaningful ways to contribute. While many parents choose to teach, others serve as classroom helpers, committee members, event coordinators, or volunteers. However, we do offer great discounts for parents who’d enjoy teaching!

Kinfolk currently serves students in first through 12th grade. Students are grouped by age and developmental stage to create meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for connection.

Our co-op year is divided into three sessions, with breaks throughout the year to allow families time to rest, travel, and enjoy the holidays.

Kinfolk was created to provide Black homeschoolers and their families with a place to belong. Along with engaging enrichment classes, we intentionally cultivate community, celebrate Black history and culture throughout the year, and encourage meaningful relationships between families.
